  1. The Balens is really far simpler then using the Color Checker or a gray or white card. The balens sets the camera for the actual color temp. so there is far less PP and there is more shadow information captured when the actual color is set in the camera. Even in Raw files.

  2. Metering and white balance are, of course, different things.

    And from what I’ve read, seen, heard, and experienced myself, grass is generally considered at least a third stop below middle grey, with tree foliage often being 2/3 to 1 full stop below.
